2. When the author keeps saying he's gonna pass out it makes you think he's really gonna pass out and you might wanna keep reading to see what happens..
3. He might have thought he was gonna fall in the water because he didn't know where he was.

5. The details that reveal his history is battle. It says "he heard that noise everyday during battle" In the story the battle means battle of the Britain (1940) in which Germany tried to conquer Great Britain.
6. If they are from Germany then maybe they will try to bomb him. Also, i can infer that the nurse in the story is scared and afraid.
7. The character doesn't want the nurse to know what's going on. He thinks the water is dirty so he's afraid.
8. He is a lighthearted person and does everything lightly.
9. Now he sees the difference in his home and culture than France.
10. So the pilot will take stuff more seriously and pay attention more often.
11. He might finally realized that the statement is very important to him and doesnt say anything else.
