1. The pilot says his wound were like finding a dead cat on a sofa. Also , he does not  take things seriously

3. I think the pilot is scared he will land in the water.

4. When he said there is going to be a thunderstorm and lighting might strike down the plane.

5. He heard the noise during the battle and in the story battle means, the great battle of Britain (1940).
