1. The pilot says his wound was like finding a dead cat on a sofa. Plus , he doesnt  take anything seriously.

2. He repeats it because the reader would want to find out what is going to happen also it makes the story more suspense.

3. I think the pilot is scared he will land in the water because if he falls into the water he will land in France.

4. Soon as he said that it might start being a thunderstorm and the thunderstorm and the lighting would strike the plane down.

5. He heard he noise during the battle and in the story battle means I think the great battle of Britain (1940).
